Every entrepreneur goes through the Wheel of Momentum, in which each part of the business-building process leads into the next. But when something shakes your business to the core — like COVID-19 — you might find yourself struggling to keep the wheel moving. And once it does get moving again, you might find it to be a little squeaky.

How can you lubricate the working parts: each of the six cogs? We who have been either partially or fully closed down over the pandemic face a squeaky wheel that might be a little rusty. We need to provide a little bit of lubrication. But how can we do this?

The one thing that is the most important through all of this is communication. As the leader of your organization, you must activate the communication through each of these spokes and ensure that each continues to roll smoothly. You know which one needs the most help…. This is your call to action!

Things haven’t been moving the way they were before the shutdown. What are you doing to get those things back and operational again? You have some time now. Work through those things. Is your business set up efficiently? Are you ready to accommodate people who want to work with you remotely? Make sure these parts of your wheel are well-greased and your business is ready for action. It’s time lubricating the wheel of momentum so that when you open again and customers start coming back, you’re ready to accept their business.

Many things have changed over the last two months. Make sure that those new processes have been worked through and that both your team and your clients know what’s going on. Everything needs to move with ease, just like it was before the shutdown.

Your business looks different, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a nice flowing business for your customers to come and enjoy once you’re reopened. If you have been reopened already, work out some of those kinks. This is the new normal. Take action so that you and your business survive and thrive post-COVID-19!
